  • Apply filter to multiple layers

Posted by Nomis on November 3, 2005 at 6:32 am

    Hi All,

How can i apply the sample filter and keyframes to multiple layers? I have fifty layers in one comp that i want to effect the same way and then sequence. Is there a quicker way than effecting each one at a time?

Thanks for your help. Could save me lot of work in the future.

    thanks

    Hello,

Select all layers in your comp, and click crtl+shift+C in order to put them in a Pre Comp. name the pre-comp whatever you want and thats all there is to it… anything done to the pre-comp will affect all layers that are inside (fx, keyframes, blendmodes, whatever)

pre-composing is one of the most powerfull ways of working in after fx.. if you have time take a look at the after fx tutorials at the Cow, I remember seeing one about precomps (also know as nesting).. Its definetly worth a look..

    hope this helps..

    good luck

Not sure if s! wants to precomp in this instance – he wants to apply keyframes to each layer and then re-position them, which is not possible in a precomping situation.

If all your layers are currently aligned, the job is easy. Just set your filters and keyfames on one layer, select the keyframes and copy them, then select all the other layers together and choose paste. Then sequence the layers as required.

Well one great way to do this is to create an “animation preset”

Select all your effects and keyframes from the clip then open the “effects and presets” window then with all that stuff selected push the make new preset button from the bottom of the window and now you have an animation preset.

select all your layers and place your cti at the start of the animation and drag out your preset.
