May 15, 2005 at 7:05 am in reply to: Importing Premiere Pro project/titles into AE problemAfter effects does not understand the Premiere titles. you must recreate them in AE. The black layer you see is a representation of the length and attributes of your original title. This seems like a limitation but by doing the titles in AE they will look better.
Good Luck

May 6, 2005 at 9:43 am in reply to: Premiere, project in After effects, then back to premiere for tweaking…Because you do not use the actual project in after effects but rather a new after effects project is generated from the premiere file instead, you must update changes manually. A good way (not great) to do it is to use the copy/paste method in AE 6.5 to copy from premiere the new changes and pasting into after effects. the cool thing is that ae places the new clips at the exact time it was instanced in premiere then you can copy and paste the effects parameters to the new clips.
It’s not perfect but… maybe 7.0

change the default spatial interpolation to linear.

well per the previous poster you would use a track matte under the modes column to duplicate the source footage just in the area of the mask.
Place your original footage on one track put the masked off rope on a layer above then take another instance of the source footage and place it underneath the masked layer. then change the track mask to i believe alpha mask or something like that and if you shut off the bottom original layer you should see your video play just in the space the mask represents. you can off-set the secondary layer in time or even shift it up or down depending on the ropes movement.
without knowing what your footage looks like, the clone tool might be useful if your background is blurred.
Another technique is to track the point where the rope meets the horse where there should be a sharp angle and then stablize that point then you could draw the mask and only have to change the sway of one end. then place this comp inside another comp and past the stabilizer data into the anchor points parameter or which ever the stabilizer doesn’t use. (either position or anchor point,) turn on collapse transformation switch (little sun star) to extend the edges or just make the pre-comp extra large.
good luck

April 28, 2005 at 9:02 am in reply to: Anamorphically squeezed material to letterboxed- How good is AE at this?Well assuming I understand you right, It would be best to get the anamorphic version because you would have more resolution to work with when essentially you would be down converting to an NTSC frame size in AE with a 16:9 matte rather than a 16:9 crop. This method allows better sub pixel accuracy from the frame resize interpolation.
If this doesn’t quite make since perhaps you could explain what footage you started with and how it was shot.

They should work. Try Ctrl + Shift + Alt on start up to reset your settings. but it wil reset them all so be careful.

The new twixtor is great. I still prefer Furnace over twixtor becuase it is extremely easy to use and always looks great. However, twixtor does have some advanced features and frame rate conversion tools that might be benificial.
good luck. check out the demos

April 27, 2005 at 3:58 pm in reply to: is it possible to us expression for exponential scale?Dan this is very creative how you solved this. Do you think you can explain it a little bit. Also could this be done with a linked slider.
so if you keyframed the expression slider value at say 10 and then to 100 equal to scale would be 100-10000.
this way you could alter it visually with keyframes.
thanks
