Importing Premiere Pro project/titles into AE problem
Hello,
I’ve decided to export my mpeg-2 files from Premiere Pro by importing my projects into AE, selecting the sequences I need encoded, then adding them to the render cue so I can export multiple sequences unattended overnight.
The original titles I did in PP are simple white text over a ‘nothing’ background, so they appear to be white text over black. In PP these titles are superimposed over the video track so you can see them in the corner of the screen while the video is playing in the background.
When I import the sequence into AE, everything looks fine except for one thing: my titles are pure black, even in the layer window!
Is there something I’m missing? Do I have to interpret the .pptl files some way, or only use specific colors?

After effects does not understand the Premiere titles. you must recreate them in AE. The black layer you see is a representation of the length and attributes of your original title. This seems like a limitation but by doing the titles in AE they will look better.

Hey,
Thanks for the info, it puts my mind at ease knowing it’s a limitation rather than a user error! Upon closer reading of the help file, it does say “Transitions and titles included in your Adobe Premiere project appear in the After Effects composition as solid layers, maintaining their original location and duration.”
