I tested that. I had to render the sequence first (which would have taken 10 hours per 30 minute sequence, I have 3) and every time I added a transition I had to render that as well, so no real help.

    An update for you guys.

After a failed test, I tried again.

I ended up using mpeg streamclip to export all of the files to XD CAM 720 30p. I then reconnected the original files to the newly formatted ones. I made a new sequence with the XD CAM 720 30p compressor settings and it worked out; most of the time.

There were a few hiccups in there. Some of the clips were out of sych, but most were ok. All in all I’m happy to be editing in real time.

I suppose the original test I did was with one of the problematic files.

In any case, next time, I’ll convert first. It takes ages but it’s worth it.

I tried a quick sample on a couple of the clips and the audio was out of synch when reconnecting to the converted files. It seems that the timecode gets put off slightly when converting.

What a mess. I guess I’ll just have to bear with the slow scrubbing time for the time being, then export a quicktime movie, then do the final touch ups with that.

No… is that what needs to be done? I’ve got loads of other software on here. If that’s the only way though, I guess I’ll have to.

    Thanks.

May 23, 2009 at 5:42 am in reply to: “not found” message after render

Thanks for the feedback guys. So the “not found” message means that my computer isn’t up to the task of rendering these clips? They seem fine when rendered on their own, or without transitions, so I guess I’ll export the “looked” footage first, and then apply the smooth cam or transitions to it. That should solve the problem… until I get a new computer. The first generation Quad core is finally starting to show it’s age…

Well, I tried exporting in XD CAM EX 720p 24 VBR Movie and there’s no problem now. I was exporting using “current settings.”

The thing is, I sent the clip from Final Cut directly. The timeline settings are the same (XD CAM EX 720p 24) in that project. Where do you think the problem comes from?

Thanks! Great tutorial. The footage is great, but I don’t know if I can shell out the $$$ for it. The theory behind it is great. I had no idea that these could be done so easily in FCP! Thanks a lot for the help!
