  • I just got the 24in version a couple days ago. Besides a dead pixel i’ve been pretty happy with it. I use it with the ultrastudio mini monitor via hdmi. In sRGB color space it looks nearly identical to my iMac display, deff no red tint.

i don’t know why you would want interlaced. i use adobe media encoder personally. can export almost any format you can think of. you can select 3:2 pulldown for the 23.98fps, and select a field dominance but i would really just since with progressive.

and if you have after effects use keylight to key. way better than anything in FCS.

  • You need a display port adapter to which ever connection your monitor uses (vga, dvi). In final cut: view -> video playback. Or you could use external video, which uses firewire through a dv camera. Hook the camera up to a tv using rca cables.

i agree about the laziness. i have a co-worker who refuses to edit in any format other than h.264 because he doesn’t want to transcode to prores.

you want something that has a raid. its faster than just a single drive. I have a g-raid 4tb and I would recommend it.

I ran FCS 2 on a 13″ macbook. 2.2 ghz 2 gb of ram. It ran fine for SD footage but it started choking on HD. A 13″ screen is not a fun experience to edit on. I would deff recommend an external monitor.

you have to have ichat to use ichat theater. and if they don’t have a mac that’s not going to work.

I’ve never had much luck with program streams working from compressor. A TV station I’ve done some work for suggested adobe media encoder and it’s been what I’ve stuck with.
