Hi Peter,
You may try my free and unsupported readXML (Tiger only). It will put all your data onto the clipboard and can paste it into Excel.

Hi,
Don’t know whether it helps or not. With some luck the original file paths are still in your project and you can export an XML and try to reconnect outside of Final Cut Pro.
The project I’m working is a collaborative one where several people do have the same files but on different drives or locations. We need that kind of “wild structure” to test some stuff.
To communicate we use XML files. That works fine – but the bad thing is that these files maybe offline because of the different file paths. To reconnect them in FCP may be not a real problem but a bit time consuming. So I made a little tool which starts before the XML actual import. It will read an XML and all folder paths which occur within this XML. If a folder path does not exist on the current machine it will be listed in a table view. From there you can click these missing folder paths and the application will ask you for a new (and correct) one. You can either navigate to this folder or just drag it from the “Finder” into the “Choose New Path …” panel.
When you are done just save the XML and import it into Final Cut Pro.It’s just an internal helper, no real error handling, not perfectly tested, no shiny interface, no icon!
But it saves a lot of time if you want to move projects from one machine to another (use the “Save with XML” feature of Final Cut Pro here before you do) or if you do work in a group like we do.You can download it here [https://www.spherico.com/filmtools/xmlReconnect/xmlReconnect.zip]

Nat,
you’re right it’s better to sync the cameras.
But my application does allows two or more cameras to be synched easily if each camera can be set up to “free run tc” – which should be the case with yours.
Even if the clips won’t match in the timeline – because of the time differences of the free run tc – the absolute order of the clips regarding the time of day is always the same. Therefore you can move complete tracks to be matched with another track or use “ttt” and “+/-“.
You can alsoI can can upload a small video by end of the week if needed – it’s easy to sync stuff that way. One of the user told me that was able to sync four days of multi camera shot within an hour.
Andreas
P.S.
If you’re using the mxf4mac component it’s even faster and you can easily mix/setup double sound.

Hi,
You can try my currently free sequenceLiner.
It’s an app thought for cams and audio HDRs running time of day (TOD) timecode.
Export your bins and one or more target sequences as XML.
The application will lay down all clips into a target sequence at their TOD. Even if the TOD tc doesn’t match on the cams the clip TOD relations within the track will match.
So you can move a complete track by some frames ind everything will be in sync.Andreas

When you got a timed language translation like ‘tc in, tc out, text’ you can use my TitleExchange to bring in all titles in one step – with all the accents and special characters kept.

December 12, 2008 at 4:50 pm in reply to: Getting footage on Timeline at Timecode of clipLuke’s method will work in many cases – it seems to work in this case – but in many cases it won’t work.
That’s why I created sequenceLiner.
You simply export some bins and a target sequence as XML
Each bin which is loaded will create one track for the video (if there is video) and maybe several tracks for audio in the target sequence. The track order can changed within the apps interface easily.
During the “line up” process each clip will be placed into the sequence according to the clip’s timecode.
This is great if you want to line up video with external audio even with multiple cameras.
Below a link to a screenshot from a part of the resulting sequence of a project with four cameras where not all of the cameras where used at certain times. Audio comes from an eight channel audio HDR where also depending on the scene not all channels where used.

So sequenceLiner is a great tool to prepare dailies, multiclips, preparing a sequence for the classical way of working with multiple cameras or just link all your external BWAV mono files.
Best thing – til Christmas it’s freewareRegards

If you still got a copy of the P2 cards you can have a look in into the P2 clip XMLs. There you can see how they where recorded.

Save or Save As in any flavour doesn’t apply any changes do did in QuickTime Player for Final Cut Pro – After Effects will take other apps as well. Final Cut Pro always will take the “raw” QuickTime data in a “1 Video Track (which may include Gamma and Aspect) – X Audio Tracks – Y flagged Timecode Tracks” every beyond is ignored.Andreas

December 3, 2008 at 4:02 pm in reply to: 180˚ Rotated Footage shows up in FCP Upside down?Final Cut ignores all “effect settings” done in QuickTime Player unless you export the movie(s) from QuickTime Player.
You can use the Motion Tab in Final Cut, but it’s not the fastet filter. You should use the “Flop” filter with settings to “Both”. You can apply this with copy paste to a bunch of files.
You also can use my “rotateClips” app which is XML based and can do these settings in an “intelligent” way very fast.Andreas
