And after 2 hours, the pc crashed.. and NO files on my external harddrive where I had chosen to export the omf to.. Starting to think I do something wrong. I just want the sound to get into an omf file for my protools guys. And i have checked OFF video.. and there are NO video tracks in my timeline

I think Apples monitors are excelent. I have a 30″ and a 23″.. and they may be a bit costly, but they rock ! We also have some LQ monitors at my job that are alot cheaper, but the colors are AWFUL. (especially skin colors)

  • Will do, just when this 30 hours rendering time is finished in AE (is it faster in FCP than AE on my 2×2 dual g5 ?)

That makes perfect sense !! We had the exact same issue with a digi recorder.. and decklink. Strange thing, actually. The problems seems not to affect all players.

I am a hardcore fcp user, but have used avid quite alot for broadcast stuff. I think Avid has some stuff that is quite nice, but in general I find doing complicated postproduction INSANELY much easier on the fcp. Avid has got some of the basic things worked out (like the media manager).. but FCP is 100 light years ahead of Avid when it comes to smart workflow with codecs and “fancy” stuff.

This is just my opinion.. avid vs. fcp debates usually end up as flame wars, so I guess you should check out at the avid discussion forum as well… if there are any guys around there any more.. (THAT WAS A JOKE !!)

    ..but.. but.. I don’t want to !!!

hehe.. I need to keep the quality. Anyone with a pc and qt who knows if qt on the pc side can actually read dvcpro50 at all ??

  • Well. My protools guys told me that with fcp 5.0 the rubberband info is preserved within the omf file !!!

    Great..
