The Shuttle Pro is a life saver for me. I could’t work without it. I just use a regular keyboard. Also the shuttle pro works with Sound Forge and Acid and a few other programs I use. You can configure it to almost any software.

If you’re trying to replace the original MPEG video, just delete it and add the new one and re-save the projuect DAR file.

Oh no! You may have something else wrong. I burn DVD-/+ R’s all the time directly from DVDA-2 and never had any problems. EXCEPT!! when I was using a Sony burner, (DRU-500A and DRU-540). Put them both in the garbage, went and got a Mad Dog (worked fine) then when I bought my new editing machine it came with HP Light scribe burner. Needless to say I’m sour on Sony stuff! 😉 ….and I don’t use RW’s.I’ve found they’re not reliable in my case.
I wonder if you don’t have a burner problem.
And I never use Nero. Had too many problems with them a few years ago. If I create it in Vegas5/DVDA-2, I burn it from DVDA-2. But I also use DVD Lab Pro and that came with a beautiful burning software Copy-to-DVD. Other than that my software of choice is NTI.
Until I got my Disk Maker’s 4-up duplicator at NAB last April I’d just go to DVDA, and use that to make my dupes.

What I’ve done is to right click on all the audio files, choose the “switches” and click “normalize”.
Then I used Sony’s Noise Reduction and put a hard limit of -6db. All the audio was then quite equal. Actually I prefer to use a -3db but the -6 worked okay also, and that’s a preset.
Then I followed Ed Troxel’s instructions about rendering to AC3 for DVDA. Changing toe dialog normalization to -31, and in the Preprocessing tab, changing both the Line mode profile and RF mode profile to “none”.
The audio on my resulting DVD’s is equal.

I wonder if I’m missing something here or is everyone else missing something? I think that Steph is asking if he can use WMV files to actually create the DVD so they play on the set top player, not as extra data on the DVD for computers.
I did a test a few weeks ago on this one. Brought the WMV files into V5, rendered to MPG and burnt to DVD. I tried it using both DVDA2 and DVLabPro. It wasn’t a very good experience. ha ha
WMV files are small both in size and picture 320 X 240 usually. The resulting DVD was very blocky at full DVD size.
I found a program that will actually convert WMV to AVI but it still can’t expand the picture. So after I converted I had to use the Track Motion to scale the video down a little so it remained sharp. Resulting DVD wasn’t too bad considering all the factors.
If I’m wrong here about understanding the original question, then I’m sorry.

The actual standard in China is PAL. However unlike in the USA where we get ripped off on many things, most all the players and TV’s can play both PAL and NTSC. Here if we want to play PAL stuff here, we got to buy extra equipment.
However! I purchased a portable DVD player some years ago at Best Buy. Mintek I think. My wife (Chinese) gets a lot of DVD’s from friends in PAL format. Those Chinese “Soaps” with 35 or 40 DVD’s They won’t even play on my DVD player I bought in China HA! But we hook up that Mintek and somehow it converts the PAL so she can watch it. I got an old Sony Trinitron 32″ tube TV as well as a brand new Samsung 46″ LCD HDTV we just bought and they all play fine through that portable player. I even got some DVD’s I picked up in China that were PAL format and they also play through that Mintek.
I was asked to send some samples to China for CCTV to review for possible programming and they were able to view them with no problems. My stuff was DVD and MiniDV tape and all in NTSC format.
