I’m using “media generators”, default text, about a 72 size font, and when rendered and viewed on a TV screen it looks pretty sloppy – blurry, out of focus, and the bright white bleeds out onto the black background.

Try dropping the white levels to 235-235-235 (max for digital video) and see if this helps.

….and if I remember right, use 16-16-16 for the blacks. But first thry 235 white as mentioned above.

Would Computer > Studio Fx do the same thing?

I would think that the Broadcast Color FX would be better.
