I dunno, I still prefer my Sonic Fire Pro 3. Music sounds better and in Cinescore there’s definate lack of the styles of music I use.

Maybe before purchasing the Sony product, you may want to check out the Sonic Fire Pro, now version 4 with mood mapping.

I wonder why. They don’t need PAL in China as all their VCD’s will play NTYC.

There’s also a frame rate and picture size difference I think. I’ve never done that in Vegas, but maybe you shold check on these?

…..for extracting clips from NON-copyrighted/protected DVD’s.

One client sends me DVD’s that were somehow done with no menu. It’s easy to extract the VOB’s from the DVD using Cinematize, add the chapters and menu and put it back onto a DVD master for him. I didn’t need to do anything with the original movie and it didn’t need to be re-rendered.

Then there’s many times I use Ed’s advice in the post above if I actually need to change the video.

That’s what it’s for. I don’t do weddings. Mostly technical work. I use DV Rack 90% of the time for my field shoots. Yes, I have a 75′ firewire cable from the camera to my laptop. I also have shorter ones but the whole point is to shoot through DV Rack and onto a HD. This saves me having to capture the video as well as having the complete “studio” in the field to monitor the video, audio, lighting, white balance and whatever.

I don’t use it, for instance when I’m in China shooting for tourist videos. As in weddings, I’m always on the move.

I understand you can use DV Rack in the studio when capturing the video but I don’t. One thing is if using it in the studio if I remember correctly you can make various changes ‘on-the-fly’ that you can’t do in the field. So you may want to look into that feature.

I’ve had the same problem, so I am using a Flash (SWF/FLV) to video (AVI among others) converter.

This software gives you a choice of coversion vodecs and I use the CinePak and the videos come out quite good.
