Like Gary says, maybe your opacity line on the timeline is not quite all the way down on the tracks you want muted.

I had that problem when I first did a multi-cam edit on V5. I could see a “ghost” of the tracks below, as I edited using the opacity level directly on the timelines. If it’s not all the way down or up as the case may be you’ll see that ghosting.

Don’t know about Corel Draw but it works the same way in PhotoShop Elements and also Paint Shop Pro which Corel purchased.

If Corel Draw works the same you need to have a text box open.

You mentioned using the default setting for rendering. I was told a long time ago not to use the default setting. Use the NTSC/PAL DVD setting and if you’re rendering for DVDA, there’s a setting for that also. Then you can go into the custom and tweak your bitrates.

I will admit I do not have V6 though so I don’t know if that’s changed in 6. I just bought 7 but haven’t installed it yet. So I know my advice works for version 5 and earlier.

I don’t think you need to re-encode. If you can get to the root of the CD in Explorer or My-Computer, just copy the Files to the hard drive and re-burn with different media. Just make sure you keep everything together in the TS folders.

As far as “ripping” the files from the DVD, try Cinematize. It’s a great program and you can recover the files in their current VOB state or even recover them to their original AVI quality, re-edit, encode and burn again.

Yup! I agree with the 2 above answers, it’s probably your media. Another thing you may want to check is the recommended media that your burner suggests. I know some burners, especially the Sonys I had recommended specific media. That also could be a problem.

You’ll love it. Many of us on this forum use Canopus products. Just make sure you read the manual. You may have to set the dip pin switches on the bak of the unit i they’re still there on the 110.

Sync problems was what originally lead me to the Canopus ADVC100. Now it’s an 110.

Here’s an exerpt from their web site:

You may also want to take a look at the 300.

None that I see. However I only use my Canopus for analog captures; ie: VHS tapes or capture DVD from a portable DVD player. For capturing my DV tapes fropm my VX2000, I use my Sony GV-D100 editing walkman.

Been using my Canopus ADVC100 for years with absolutely no problems at all. That was the cheapest. However I understand now there’s a ADVC300 and 500. The 300 supposedly has a TBC Time Base Correcter to enhance old VHS tapes and is about $300 something. That’s the next one I’ll buy. And a 500 that’s around $1500 or so. The old 100 is now 110 I think.

I’d check them out.

I seem to remember a writup in EventDV and also I think it was DV Magazine about a book from CMP (I believe) with legal forms a videographer can use. The thing was on a CD I believe a few months ago, but for the life of me I can’t find the ad or article.

It had all kinds of forms from model releases to location releases, job contracts and whatever. Might be interesting if I could find the ad or article again.
