multiple time line bug?
Hi, I’ve been using vegas since v3 and find it great for the quick work flow and stability of vegas, however I have been editing footage on multiple time lines and have found that the top video stream (visible) is affected by any video on another track under it, by way of lighter and darker shades flashing on the top stream whether muted locked or visible on lower tracks? as if slightly transparent! I’ve made shure all the tracks are Alpha channel in composit mode, and the footage plays clean in the trimmer, the work around is to pains takingly go through all video and replace shots where this anomily occurs and delete all overlaps, vages 6 had no such problem.
does anyone have this problem and a better fix than mine, as vegas has always surpassed its rivals please please let me know 🙂

The opacity can be set by both the track header slider and on individual events by dragging from the top edge of the event. If this is the case, you should see a horizontal line across the event.

Like Gary says, maybe your opacity line on the timeline is not quite all the way down on the tracks you want muted.
I had that problem when I first did a multi-cam edit on V5. I could see a “ghost” of the tracks below, as I edited using the opacity level directly on the timelines. If it’s not all the way down or up as the case may be you’ll see that ghosting.

Hi there, thanks for the heads up..
altho I had not altered the opacity values in each track I’ve just been back to the edit and all values are set to 100% (ie not opaque) seems something is amiss as one of the video tracks when sliding the opacity level down to reviel the track under it makes that track brighter? over bright as if burning out! and does not do what it says on the box lol, also there is only one track under the said cut aways I added?On other tracks it seems to work just fine?
Shame I cant go back to v6 with this edit. that seemed to work ok.
I love the way v7 snaps to the begining of each added piece of video, too bad I’ll have to wait and hope SV sort this bug for v7c?
Bugged out I say?

Perhaps you’ve changed the compositing mode of the track? Maybe you should post the VEG file so others can take a look.
