Ever Since DVDA-2, and I don’t remember DVDA1 did that also, I’ve noticed that it inflates the video size, sometimes horribly. Over the years on this forum I’ve gotten some possible answers but nothing definitive.

Pretty muych if I have a somewhat large video, I render it to AVI and bring it into DVDA, then after I’m finished authoring, I click the “fit-to-disc” option in the optimize dialog box and wind up fine.

Even is DVDAx says it’s too large, I bring it into DVD Lab Pro and get a more accurate file size, then do my authoring in there.

Actually I’ve been using AVG anti-virus for years now. First the free version and now their new Internet security suit. It has a small footprint and I’ve never shut it off or disabled it while doing anything in either Vegas or DVDA. I’ve had no problems at all or slowdowns.

However I must add that this is AVG. I can’t vouch for any other brand of antivirus or security software especially Symantic or McAfee. Symantic is a system hog!

However my editing computer is networked to 2 others, Laptop and my internet machine so it never really goes online except to update software.

You’re not going to be able to upload 15 minute video to You Tube unless you’re a director.

Here’s an exerpt from You Tube specks.
Videos are limited to 10 minutes (unless you’re a Director) and 100 MB.
Videos saved with the following settings convert the best:
MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format
320×240 resolution
MP3 audio
30 frames per second framerate

Best to go with DivX. V7 I understand will render to that. If you don’t have V7 you can get the DivX encoder from….

It’s quite cheap and comes with a player. Just bring an AVI ito the converter and convert. Easy.

I’ve tried uploading to You Tube in other formats but this one works the best.

I think you’re going to need to use a program like AMS (Auto Play Media Studio).

for that. Both programs are designed for what you’re asking. MMB I think is cheaper but AMS is easier to use. I have AMS. I use DVD Lab Pro from Media Chance which is a great program for authoring DVD’s. I use it in addition to DVDA. There’s others out there but these are the two I’m familiar with.

Most all WMV’s I see are 320 X 240.

…..and no matter which authoring program you use, including DVDA, you can make a straight movie DVD without Menus.

Don’t know what you want to do but personally, a DVD without a menu sort of defeats the purpose. I mean it’s like watching a VHS tape. Would have to fast forward or reverse to find something. If I’m just running a movie to a DVD from a VHS tape, at the least I just set a chapter every 15 minutes or so.

As far as searching, use the old fashion Windows search tool. Right click on the start menu, click on search, search “My-Computer” for *.sfk.

then you can do what you want with the results. Move them all or delete them. I dunno, they never bothered me.

….and you can also create your chapter points in Vegas before rendering.

If you have Vegas, you should also have gotten DVD Architect at the same time. They’re usually sold as a package.

DVDA is rather easy to use following Ed’s tutorials. There’s plenty of Menu templates already in the program. Also Gary’s training DVD’s are great too. Covers Vegas plus DVDA
