  • Am I safe turning off anitvirus software during renders?

Hello to eveyone and happy holidays to you all.
In the past when I render in Vegas I disable my “Local Area Connection” which is a dsl line, and shut off my antivirus software. I know I don’t want the antivirus software running in the background when I render, but I just want to make sure that my computer is still safe. I have been doing it this way for about 2 years and have not had any problems that I am aware of. I guess in a nutshell my question is this–Is my computer safe with the dsl connection diasbled (not physically disconnected) and my antivirus software shut off?
    Thanks.

Just as long as all windows(except Vegas) are closed or signed-off, and you do not agree to download/open/accept anything while antivirus is off, then it should be fine.

Actually I’ve been using AVG anti-virus for years now. First the free version and now their new Internet security suit. It has a small footprint and I’ve never shut it off or disabled it while doing anything in either Vegas or DVDA. I’ve had no problems at all or slowdowns.

However I must add that this is AVG. I can’t vouch for any other brand of antivirus or security software especially Symantic or McAfee. Symantic is a system hog!

However my editing computer is networked to 2 others, Laptop and my internet machine so it never really goes online except to update software.

    Happy New Year

Not going online always solves the problem (my edit computer doesn’t either). You can just unplug.
