  • how do I lock down random effects in order to render in two passes?

I am rendering in Xvid, and I have decided to render in two passes.

A number of special effects that I have added (like Noice, Film Effects) are random. This means that each time the project is rendered, those effects are rendered in a different way.

This is not good when rendering in two passes, since (I think) the algorithm expects the same exact frame.

Is there a way to “lock down” these effects, so that they will be rendered at exactly the same way?

Render the entire project (or at least those sections) to a DV-AVI file and then use THAT file for your two-pass render.

I… don’t think that I have the disk space. I only have 40GB to spare on this.

Get another HD;-) ha ha They’re quite cheap these days. I have 3 external Firewire HD’s and 2 internal not counting C drive.
