OK…just to follow up….

the only two methods I can think of that will replace a clip in the PPro timeline with a comp

1) Right Click and select “replace with AE COMP”
2) Create AE Dynamic Link.

Just copying and pasting should not create a comp.

So you probably did one of these to get AE going without realizing it…?

Hiya…

I have more or less migrated the TV department of our agency to CC.

However, I will qualify that by saying most of our spot work is built as motion Gfx work not traditional editorial. So it’s just easier to start and finish in AE or Apple Motion.

I wanted AE as a primary tool for better access to a talent pool and depth of toolset. We are LOVING Element 3d from Video Copilot.

The good news for us is that based on annual CC agreements and the tiny price point of Apple Motion 5 we can afford to have both around for our group.

We have not, and have no intention of moving to FCPX. For the editorial we do, usually offline for motion gfx work, PPro is perfect. I’ve had several years on both PPro and FCP 6 & 7, and with the most recent updates….I pretty much don’t even have to think about it when hacking away in PPro. Not just painless, but with native format support…even better.

I don’t think so….

you might…

Throw a transparent or adjustment video layer (you can create this in the project panel) on your sequences that have the markers and add matching markers to this clip in the timeline…

that way you can copy it to another sequence and it will retain all the markers you set…

not fun….but a solution….

Hi…

no real expertise here, but…

currently:

you have sport of answered your own question in that EDL’s (not XML) are one one track by nature.
So I’d guess you’d have to do one for each track and grade independently.

or

you export result media and grade the already combined images.

neither is ideal.

Here’s what I can tell you….

1) “Multiple clips and sequences can be sent to Adobe Media Encoder at once”

so you should be able to take your media in the project panel and run it thru AME to create low res proxies in one go. at least according to this: https://blogs.adobe.com/premierepro/2013/09/adobe-premiere-pro-cc-october-2013-release.html

2) Premiere’s native re-link has gotten better..be sure to look over the docs here:

so have a look….you may be able to make this easier yet.

seemed like most of the headaches involved had to do with working between mac and PC and resolving paths when media is stored in a complex folder setup at the OS level. (involving / vs and other petty annoyances)

Walter Soyka had some goods things to say about this….

If you are going to be working on the same project….and basing that on importing eachothers work into each others local projects…one REALLY BIG hint is…

Import the SEQUENCES you need from the other project and not the PROJECT FILE itself…

By importing the SEQUENCES, PPro will attach the sequence to your existing clip entries. if you import the project, PPro will create duplicate Clip entries in the project panel and things can bloat and get messy quickly.

to prevent the email shuffle….Using AE…I’ve played with making my project folder a DROP BOX location and thus every time I save, being in sync with the drop box and on theory another editing location……..I suppose if you are only doing the project files this would work….but you’d been a pretty big drop box account to handle the media files…don’t think it’s impossible though…..but again….my experiments were only cursory…so don’t take it as gospel…
