Don’t know specifics…
But generally, Adobe is moving away from traditional perpetual licensing to SAS (Software as Service) pretty much exclusively. It’s just a decision that they made that they feel is better for their business. I offer this description matter-of-factly and with no opinion one way or the other. Users will ultimately determine if this is a model that will work.
Already there have been a number of editing and inter-application workflow functions that have been released exclusively for CC version, but my understanding is Adobe has continued to patch CS6 to keep it up to date with most modern media formats and fix show stopping bugs that have popped up on 6.
Don’t know how long that patches will go on…Technically at some point in the future the code base will become so bifurcated that there will probably be some some things that CS6 version as a code base just isn’t intended to do. I imagine at that point Adobe would like cease patching and adding media non- compatible media formats, but as I don’t work for Adobe…I can’t hazard as to when that would be.
So that’s where it’s at….there’s a whole other forum dedicated to the debate over this business model.

Well, I’m coming from Motion 3 so….
in 3, if you had keyframes on a object
and you slipped the the media via option drag….
the media would slip, but the keyframes would remain in place.
Now….the keyframes slip with the media slip.
I can see instances when this would be useful….but more often than not…
I’ll place media build some motion and then want to refine the edit (content of the video) but not the timing of the animation….or I’ll be replacing media when reusing a previously built animation. this becomes a major annoyance in those cases.

And slipping clips with Keyframes is changed now too…
major pain in the butt…..

I know that native relinking is supposed to be beefed up…but I can’t tell you anything about it…

When your source is loaded into the source viewer…
how are your tracks patched in the sequence?
Sounds like you you have the record side patched with the source side disconnected to me…
