Offline/online workflow or Relinking clips to different versions of the media
I have several projects that I am using and offline/online workflow for. They are both using file based media and proxy versions.
One is a short film shot on RED, and I have transcoded everything to DNxHD to run better on my laptop. The other project was GoPro footage that I transcoded to half-size PhotoJPG QuickTimes so we could work on a REALLY old iMac.
In both cases, the file names were the same as the original, but the extension changed (R3D > mov, mp4 > mov).
When I setup the R3D workflow, earlier in the year, I couldn’t find a straight forward way to batch change all of the media from the R3D to the movs and back again. But I did test and found that I could open the Premier file in a text editor and search *R3D and replace with mov, and it would work.
I saw in the release notes of the latest version of CC mention of proxy workflows and improved re-linking options. I was hoping this would give me a better option for the way I’m working but I can’t find anything about it in the help files, and when I tried to relink the proxy mov files from the GoPro shoot back to the original mp4 files I had to do it individually for each clip.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

I know that native relinking is supposed to be beefed up…but I can’t tell you anything about it…

I know it’s an extra fee…but if you are doing a lot of this….may be worth it…
