So as long as I’m at the head of the clip….?

is that what you are suggesting?

    thanks

  • Hi Jeremy…

when you say Prelude was sluggish….were you connecting directly to the P2 card? If so, over what? I tried some HD on a camera but connected only over USB….it was pretty bad.

I assume that if it was staged to a local drive then browsed via prelude to make selects as described in other answers….your result might be a bit better.

    Purely speculation by me though….

If Premiere is not giving you options on a 4 point edit (fit to fill)…

check your preferences, I seem to recall this is selectable as a general setting now as opposed to having to choose how to handle it on each occurrence. This was driving a lot of converts crazy, so they added it as a pref.

    If it helps…

go to you keyboard shortcuts and search for ‘Select Next Clip’

that way you can select the next clip from the keyboard and make adjustments in the effects controls w/o having to click on it in the sequence….

    Hiya…

So your edit is done. now you need to adjust scale of clips in the edit?

Why does this require ganging? and when you gang, what’s loaded in the source monitor?

I’d just scrub through the timeline with the effects controls panel open in the source monitor. When you get to a clip you need to adjust in the edit, select it. This will change the context of the effects controls in the source viewer to the selected clip allowing you to adjust its parameters.

    What am I missing?

I’d test the pipeline first to make sure you get it working…

    maybe 2 clips…

see if you can get those dig’d…

what software are they using at the station?

Sounds like you are going to have to make a sequence that includes only those clips….

then export that has a XML or EDL that they can use at the station to dig those clips to files for ya…

you will likely have to visually match those into your cut….

    that’s my guess anyway….

    What might be helpful instead…

is to edit UP to the top track on you multi-track edit…

use the razor blade to split edits from your source tracks at the lower levels and drag UP to the top track to do you assembly…

you cold always then copy and paste the master assembly to a different sequence if you wish.

Although it defeats the purpose of native editorial…

You can transcode on ingest to a more Metadata friendly format.

This may also have the benefit of not necessarily having to keep the whole P2 folder structure intact, which also makes media easier to move around your storage.

They do generally offer some pretty good discounts to current users along the lines of committing to a year or 2 of subscription (they don’t take all the money at once…you just get a better monthly rate with the commitment. )

    Don’t feel too bad…
