    I recently completed a 2-camera shoot — the 1st camera was a Panasonic P2 cam and the 2nd a Panasonic tape-based camera.

We rented out an AJA Ki Pro for the job (to digitize the tape-based footage), and it worked well — with the exception being that the Ki Pro recorded that output of the camera’s monitor — which had title-safe reference lines selected — so those title-safe lines became embedded in the converted footage.

I do have tape-based backup (DVCPRO HD) — so I’m wondering what the best workflow would be to capture only the footage I’ve edited into my project. I do have working timecode I can use. A colleague of mine suggested bringing in a “batch list.” I’ll be using a Ki Pro to offload the tape-based footage.

I’m editing with Premiere Pro CC — all up to date — recent convert from FCP7.

    Suggestions?? — thanks…!!

You need to delete the media.
Open project and batch capture from the tapes.

    Hi Chris,
Thx for your response — I probably didn’t state my situation very clearly…
I don’t own the Panasonic tape deck needed for this job — so can’t log and capture.
I have access to that deck at a TV station, but only want to capture the scenes that I’ll need (I don’t want to mass capture all 2 hours of footage)…
I am aware I need to delete the media currently in my project.
So, what I’m really looking for is a APP solution which would allow me to use the timecode on the videotape to capture what I need.
    Make sense?? thx.

If you don’t have the deck – how are you to recapture this media?
Pr will just batch capture the media needed in your sequence.

Sounds like you are going to have to make a sequence that includes only those clips….

then export that has a XML or EDL that they can use at the station to dig those clips to files for ya…

you will likely have to visually match those into your cut….

    that’s my guess anyway….

Thanks, Alex; just what I was hoping to hear; I’ll give it a try…

I’d test the pipeline first to make sure you get it working…

    maybe 2 clips…

see if you can get those dig’d…

what software are they using at the station?

The station will be offloading from their Panasonic HD deck to an AJA Ki Pro — deja vu all over again.
