I think Peter hopes that people who create Motion template effects will announce them on the fcp.co forum as well as here and LA. He also posts when he sees an effect mentioned elsewhere, but doesn’t trawl the COW fora.

That’s why I sometimes post when I’ve made something new.

I know the feeling of not being able to stop!

Your work is making the pre Motion 5 template industry (you know those sites) look pretty anaemic.

You’re going to have to gather together links to all your work, or someone less deserving will.

By the way, I suggest that your templates should go into a dedicated BG folder, because FCP X won’t find Motion effects applied from one folder on a system with the same effect with the same name but stored in a folder with a different name.

  • Rick,

It’ll be implemented as a Title Generator – if it above everything else in the timeline, it will matte everything to the aspect ratio you choose. That means you can move clips and content, add effects and colour grades to your timeline without the matte getting in the way.

    David,

This effect will apply to display resolution -whatever the pixel aspect ratio is. That means 4:3 for NTSC.

Apple specifies ‘Colour’ and ‘Centre’ in the spelling of all new Final Cut Pro X effect parameters designed by people in the UK.

July 11, 2011 at 3:59 pm in reply to: Audio Only Crossfade – Video Tutorial

Frank Stäudtner suggested making a transition in Motion that did nothing.

For those who don’t have Motion 5, I’ve created a Sound only transition.

You can download the file from my blog.

I’ve added a pop-up menu so you can specify the audio transition timing: Audio first, at the same time as video or Video first.

There’s a forum over at FCP.co for free effects and templates.

July 2, 2011 at 3:43 pm in reply to: Dissolve starting on edit????

A workaround is to use transitions that are designed to start or end at the edit point.

I’ve created versions of Cross Dissolve that do this. Download them from https://alex4d.wordpress.com/2011/07/02/final-cut-pro-x-transitions-dissolves-start-and-finish-on-edit/

If you use a variety of transitions, you will need versions of each that start or end on edits.

Any other transitions you’d like to use in this way?

The FxPlug 2 SDK for plug-in developers has only recently been added to developer.apple.com

I don’t think Apple doesn’t believe in the third-party ecosystem: they were just too amazingly paranoid to let developers into their plans before release.
