Out of 13 IOs, two have had such a problem in the last few months after two years.
After driver un-then-reinstalls and firmware down-then-upgrades, problems seem to have stopped on one of them.
One still has a little problem with dropping deck control, but i haven’t written off the wiring yet. -
It sounds like the Sony TV is causing the problem, some sort of termination issue.

is the footage being edited at 29.97, 23.98, or 24? it will make a difference, and your comp should be created the same.
as well your ae comp wont look very good unless the project is being conformed in the end, uncompressed. -
yes, i know Compressor 2 is great for this… BUT
its free with FCP and even tho we have a very large volume license, we want to be able to do this on any and all of our assistant stations as well….
Really the batch export ability should be available in Quicktime Pro.

What are you making your dvds in? Idvd went to hell back in 10.3.x and half the time couldn’t convert Uncompressed to mpeg2. DVDSP seems to work fine 95% of the time lately.
As far as “Make Self Contained” unchecked, i stopped doing that a long time ago because it leads to too many possible problems as the next app tracks back to where the footage is located.
And with 10.4.3, i jumped right in figuring it can only get better from where 10.4.x has sunk us already…

Just went through this debacle this weekend.
HDV is sluggish and a bit of pain in general…
Rendering takes almost three times as longer than DVCPROHD.
However, i must say it doesn’t look terrible and it plays out through the Kona pretty well.
When finished cutting we laid it out in real time to HDCAM, easy.I never could figure out how to edit back to HDV tape tho… (not like i needed too, but that was annoying)
Looking back, id like not to have to work in that format again in the future (unless it gets converted/new master tapes prior to editing).

for pc editing look to adobe premiere, or (gulp) avid mojo.
