Exactly. This is why its a huge problem for the professional/film/broadcast market, since we all use a wacom, and are always hovering.

What version of the os are you running?
Ive run into this a while back on a number of machines that use 2 monitors, and this would only happen on one of the two (but usually the main window if i remember correctly).
I think this was corrected with certain system updates…

November 9, 2005 at 4:22 pm in reply to: Apple just keeps on rockin’ and rockin’ harderAnother bit of advice for now is to not rush to FCP 5….
Ive been a mac user since i had an LC, and always a pusher.
Recently as ive learned to know this system and FCP inside and out,
any problems are now gaping holes and glaring errors. This is very frustrating because this system can be a rock on one hand,
but on the other can frustrate to such a level….While FCP has stepped forward with its capabilities with its move to version 5,
it has stepped backwards with its stability… which is even more important. -

I do thank you for your suggestion, but i dont post rants here until im sure its not operator error (thats usually my gut reaction to the assistants and editors i support).
Ive been complaining a lot on the cow recently about final cut.
This is because we are using it on a professional level, and the pro end has been getting the short end of the stick. -
Im very happy to learn im not alone on this, but annoyed that this is yet another real FCP problem.
We experience this problem constantly with this one specific job that has mixed 8bit and 10bit resolutions, and the dropouts occur after the rendering of an animated channel ident bug which is over the duration of the sequence. Steering clear of 10bit seems to do the trick for now.

This is because we are using it on a professional level, and the pro end has been getting the short end of the stick. FCP needs to be able to properly handle rendering graphics, not to mention not lockup when you move the mouse while fast forward, etc. etc. -
My preference for this is MpegStreamclip (that Matte mentioned),

NO not sluggish, FCP comes to a STOP.
this is not a wacom problem, not an offset issue, AND NOT USER ERROR (and thats pretty lame to be accused of when this is a problem that 12 different editors i work with are having, i experience at work and at home, multiple people experience here on the cow.)
Im quite surprised YOU yourself haven’t experienced.
Play in fast forward, and move your mouse. Why dont you “TRY IT OUT”.

Yes, CAN EVERYONE PLEASE COMPLAIN TO APPLE ABOUT THIS?
This whole move the mouse/wacom while shuttling is just not funny anymore…
Its really f****ing with my workflow, and apple just doesn’t seam to care.
ive called them many many many times, and they act as if they have never heard of this problem before. -
