how the hell can you be a pirate if you buy a song from the itms? I have to use jhymn to listen to these locked songs on my Squeezebox. wtf.

  • You should be working in 23.98 even if you are going back to film.
once you create your digital intermediate, then every thing gets pulled up to 24.
So you theoretically need not worry about it… At least this method seems to get rid of a lot of headache.

  • i figure you are referring to slowing down the audio by 0.01% to keep sync with your film while you work in 24fps….

you should most likely be working in 23.98, not 24, thus no reason for the slowdown.
if it is because you are going back to film, i believe just rendering out your audio in fcp solves this and avid takes care of this automatically.

  • I understand the terms just fine… I just don’t understand what you are trying to do.

What program are you editing in? If your working in FCP, just adjust your sequence’s sample rate accordingly…

  • This was sort of a bug / Apple took it away…
(i’ve heard of stories of people getting it back by reinstalling, but ive done fresh installations recently and its no longer there)

Just use Compressor, or have DVDSP do the conversion for you.
Honestly i never ever touch the QuickTime Conversion export – always either export Quicktime and have a separate app do the compression, or export using Compressor (that way you can have watch folders and droplets already preset so you don’t have to do any extra preparation).

Is it DVCAM? Basic your tape first (black it and assign timecode on the deck itself).
You could do a partial black, then just assemble the rest (just remember to leave a chuck of black slug at the tail or black trailer when “mastering”)
