Say David, why don’t you go ahead and test the water? It feels pretty warm…. go ahead, just give a nice dive off the diving board. Don’t worry, we’ll be right here to catch you. 🙂

You’re always a sucker for punishment. But I would love to hear about the cuts and bruises.

November 11, 2005 at 6:36 pmI’ve been good for a week – and even updated to QT 7.0.3 because my company is looking at putting all of our titles on the internet for the trendy iPod video people. I got a free iPod video out of the deal – so even if the OS would have ruined my mac, I still would have been a happy camper!
But a director I am working with upgraded two days ago, and he still hasn’t gotten his dual G5 back up and running.
I started asking him the normal questions… Did you clone your drive before the OS? Did you rebuild permissions before and after? To which he had no idea what I was saying. Moral of the story. Don’t be the first to jump. And at least jump in the right direction. Me – I prefer the backflip!

November 14, 2005 at 2:38 pmHey gang….
Do me a favor….. export out a movie and leave “Make Self Contained” unchecked. Then look at the movie in Quicktime and tell me if you are getting reversed field problems. I can no longer make DVDs anymore because I’m getting reversed fields. I am using the IMX codec, too. Tell me your results…

November 14, 2005 at 8:29 pmWhat are you making your dvds in? Idvd went to hell back in 10.3.x and half the time couldn’t convert Uncompressed to mpeg2. DVDSP seems to work fine 95% of the time lately.
As far as “Make Self Contained” unchecked, i stopped doing that a long time ago because it leads to too many possible problems as the next app tracks back to where the footage is located.
And with 10.4.3, i jumped right in figuring it can only get better from where 10.4.x has sunk us already…
