I’m having a problem with a graphic that I’m trying to key over footage in FCP 5. There’s green noise surrounding the alpha channel. I created the graphic in Photoshop and the alpha channel is clean. Any ideas?

I have this problem also, but I don’t think it’s related to the IO. More likely a problem with FCP itself. I pretty much avoid using Photoshop files for uncompressed graphics because of this and some other weird issues. Targa files with alpha channels are much more reliable and clean in my experience. I know, it takes longer to create them, but it just works. I’d be glad to hear from anyone who’s found a way around the green digital noise problem with psd files.

Joe, I found that if I apply a directional blur vertically set at 1 pixel, the green artifacts don’t show up in FCP. Let me know if that works for you. Thanks for the reply.
