Yes, scripts can help you. The first one can create gaps for you (such as already mentioned by Rob). Another one can create markers at the beginning of each gap, and the third on can place your clips at those markers. All these tasks can be easily implemented with scripting plug-ins like Vegasaur or similar.

Youtube requires 16:9, so you should crop your clips in Pan/Crop window.
Try Video4YouTube plug-in (free).
It can automatically render and upload your project to Youtube.Before using it, you should select the project template that corresponds to your source media. Plug-in determines the relevant rendering parameters (resolution, frame rate etc.) based on the project settings. To do this, go to File > Properties. Click the Match Media Settings button (with the folder icon) in the upper-right corner of the Project Properties window. Navigate to one of your source video files and click Open. This selects the appropriate template for you.
Then go to Tools > Extensions > Video4Youtube

V just indicates that the clip will be looped at this point, i.e. it will start playback from the beginning.
Keep in mind that changing the speed of a clip does not change the event length, so you should change it manually. -
1) View > Active Take Information (or press Ctrl+Shift+I)
2) Double click the event to make timeline selection. The selection length is displayed in lower right corner of Vegas window

Vegas is smart enough and it won’t deinterlace progressive footages.

From Vegas help file:
1) Select the Envelope tool.
2) Select the envelope you want to copy:Double-click above the time ruler to create a time selection that matches the length of your project.
Click the envelope you want to copy.
If the envelope isn’t displayed, you can right-click the track, choose Show Envelopes from the shortcut menu, and then choose an envelope from the submenu.3) From the Edit menu, choose Copy.
4) Select the envelope where you want to paste the envelope points:Click within a track to select it.
Insert an audio or video envelope if needed.
Click to select the envelope where you want to paste the selected points.
Click Go to Start if you want the envelope to appear exactly as it was in the original track, or click to position the cursor where you want the envelope to start.5) From the Edit menu, choose Paste.

Yes, Vegas 8 doesn’t support frame sizes more than 2048
The maximum frame size in Vegas 9 and 10 is 4096×4096
