yeah, i hoped i could avoid that. i used to be able to run multiple versions of fcp all the way down to 4 without a hitch. bummer. now i really have to uninstall 7 and get back to 6. i’ll do the external boot drive for FCS3.

    thanks.

    Craig,

my apologies. I spoke out of my heart because of a case of nerves and money that happened just two days ago. I admit i can’t back up my prejudice and thanks for letting me know that SDHC cards can be trusted in case i need to use them in the future. I know that no data format is 100% safe.

btw, this thread was actually about data loss on an SDHC card.

I just had an SDHC card fail on me and was able to recover it by purchasing data recovery software from lc-tech. https://www.lc-tech.com/home.html Try using that to recover the SxS. They have a demo version which lets you see if there’s anything to recover at all, before having to purchase it.

By the way, that happened on the first shoot with the camcorder that writes to SDHC cards natively (within I’d say 10 hours of use). In over 300 hours with the EX-1 and SxS cards I did not have a single problem. Which confirms my belief that it makes no sense to save on cards when data integrity is at stake.

All fair points. And i agree with all of them. I also went to find a mirror. Unfortunately I don’t have the luxury of having enough time to go to square 1. Also trust me, I don’t capture full tapes because i have complete faith in the equipment or find it fun. Not a preferred workflow.

I did start with Advanced Pulldown, but encountered problems. The workaround I described worked for me before.

Anyway, the reason I want to remove interlacing is because the project may also end up on the web (dvd is the first delivery format). In that case I would prefer to work with progressive footage. I guess I’ll just work in 29.97 and forget about it.

In any case. I was wondering if it is possible that I can get drop frames and cadence issues because of a deck, or it is only dependent on the camera.

I have the studio rented with the syc lights and overhead soft boxes. We will bring whatever we have and try to create a high-key setup, so we don’t have to change much as we change angles.
I do have a gaffer for the shoot and I hope he’ll know what he’s doing. Thanks for the advice.

i think i will need to see the floor. pretty sure i will. i’ll have 2-3 people in the shot, props, etc..

if you look at the photos, i don’t think those overhead banks are part or the syc lights deal..

  • Check if you have any MPEG2 files in your sequence. (Or any MPEG for that matter) Could be footage from a DVD. That, in my experience, is the most common cause for crashing on render/export, though it could be any corrupt file.

If you have MPEG files, convert them in MPEG Streamclip prior to using them in your sequence.

    we use https://automaticsync.com
they transcribe, caption, and present it in 10 or 15 different file formats. they’re pretty solid with their work, but of course you still do have to check for proper spelling of names and other mistakes before outputting.

    Thanks Mark,

The way you describe it I would like to become that intern and learn all that cool stuff you’re talking about!

We’re getting some papers from school when the spring break is over. Other than that, is there a place i could find the template for parental consent? Never had to deal with that before, so I have no idea what it should look like.

    Alec.
