So I have a 10 minute sequence with a whole bunch of footage of different sources and codecs.

I created a standard NTSC timeline and created my project.

Now when I export, it gets about half way through, then QT crashes…

I took it from one computer to another and got the same result… I even copied all the footage from a firewire drive to my internal… same issue.

Running the fastest Mac Pro money can buy… the new 8 core with 12 gig of ram.

    FCP 6.0.5 – OSX 10.5.5

    PLEASE>.. client coming in 2 hours… HELP!!

    Sounds like a corrupt file.

How do I identify which file is corrupt? I have dozens of files in the sequence.

Also if it was corrupt, wouldnt I have problems editing it? I have no such problems… only when I export

It is a process of elimination.

Corrupt clips can be tricky. You say you you are using clips from many sources and codecs, my guess is one or more of those clips is not happy with FCP.

I agree with Steve. Can be a clip or affect applied that is causing the crash.
Render selecting few clips at a time. You will find out where is the problem.

Check if you have any MPEG2 files in your sequence. (Or any MPEG for that matter) Could be footage from a DVD. That, in my experience, is the most common cause for crashing on render/export, though it could be any corrupt file.

If you have MPEG files, convert them in MPEG Streamclip prior to using them in your sequence.
