We’re making progress all the time. Finding the time to update the website and do the postings as I mentioned is difficult.

I know you may be interested or excited about pIAE or pI4, but there is *nobody* on this planet that is more eager to have pIAE released than me.

  • Ah, if you’re saving an AVI, some codecs require specific widths (multiple of 4 for instance). So 1049 may not be a valid width for the codec you’re using.

If you’re rendering PNG and still getting the size larger than the stage size, I have no idea.

You’re using particleView’s fullscreen mode, right?

The way you’re doing it is the way that at least a few other people are doing it, based on feedback I’ve gotten over the years. We’ve considered doing a live performance tool based on particleIllusion, but there are a couple of other projects in front of it right now.

  • Some codecs only work at specific resolutions, and the DV codec is one of them. I’m not sure why you have an NTSC one and not a PAL one, but I think this has come up in the forum before — try doing a forum search for DV PAL or something like that.

Whatever stage size you set in particleIllusion, that’s your output resolution. So if your stage is 1049 x 576, that’s what it is. If it’s coming in to Vegas as a different size, then Vegas is reinterpreting the size based on a different pixel aspect ratio and you need to adjust that in Vegas.

    I think.

Update to the latest version. On Windows, there is a “use audio from layer” option in the output options dialog when you’re saving AVIs.

  • Delete your preferences file:

    / Library / Preferences / pIllusion3.prefs

    That should fix it.

Ok, we’ve fixed this error and uploaded 3.0.4.1 (which displays in the AutoUpdate dialog as 3.0.4a). Please install this update.

I think it’s the same issue, but please email me at support at wondertouch dot com and I’ll send you a fixed beta version to test.

I was wrong — it *is* a problem with the 3.0.4 code. A last-minute fix for the AVI audio support causes it to crash when you select non-movie output formats. We’ll be releasing a 3.0.4.1 update today for this.

On the “hang” issue — what output format are you choosing? A quick reply is appreciated as we need to get this fix released.

Considering that we’ve had the 3.0.4 update ready for months, and have been using it almost daily, and none of the beta testers reported a problem with it, I’m guessing that it’s a problem with the update process and not the code itself. Plus, we didn’t change the rendering/output code at all, except for AVI output.

Is this on Vista? I need more details. Probably best to email support at wondertouch dot com and we’ll work it out that way.
