I have no idea about that. Have you tried Googling “photo gallery” or whatever that was?

I don’t know what photo gallery is, or what’s going on.

Have you tried restarting your computer and trying again? Whenever something really weird happens, that’s the first thing I try.

January 14, 2009 at 10:07 pm in reply to: How to load particle images in order, not random

So if I understand right, you want 1 particle created that starts with the first frame of your sequence, then the next particle created start with the second frame of your sequence, etc.?

If so, you can’t do this. Either a particle uses the first frame of the sequence, or it uses a random frame.

You can only install and activate on miltiple computers if 1) you personally own all of the computers 2) you are the only person running particleIllusion on them.

So you *cannot* activate on your work computer and your home computer, unless you own your work computer yourself. Otherwise, your employer (the one who owns the work computer) needs to purchase a license too.

Well, pIllusion is a little misleading in that the “Save Alpha” option is enabled, but we couldn’t figure out how to get the true alpha channel status from a codec. So we just enable alpha for any codec that we know supports alpha (even if there is some internal configuration that is not correct in the codec).

That *is* a clue… that you’re wasting 900 MB of drive space. Lagarith uses lossless compression (like a ZIP file). Uncompressed just doesn’t make sense — unless it’s the only thing that works of course.

If you don’t configure Lagarith to save alpha by choosing RGBA in the Lagarith codec “configuration” page, it won’t save alpha at all, even though pIllusion enables the “save alpha” option.

You’re actually rendering with pIRender, not with pIllusion itself.

Have you tried rendering to a PNG sequence instead and seeing if the alpha comes into Vegas?

I don’t have Vegas 8, but in Vegas 7 Lagarith pI3 to Vegas works fine (after I tell Vegas that the clip has an alpha channel).

January 9, 2009 at 3:25 pm in reply to: Are the following possible in Particle Illusion SE?

You can’t do either of these with SE. You need 3.0 for that.

In 3.0 you can “export position data” to the clipboard for the one emitter, then “import position data” from the clipboard for the 2nd emitter.

Or, you can just copy and paste the emitter (so there are 2 copies), then use the “replace” function to replace the second emitter with one from the library.

In 3.0 you can also open the emitter properties dialog for the library and drag a particle type from one emitter to another.

    Man, I hate Vista.

    Does AutoUpdate not work?

Here’s how you should proceed when doing an update:

    1) Use AutoUpdate (“check for updates”) from within pIllusion.

    If that won’t work:

    2) Use the update installer from our website

    If that won’t work:

    3) AutoUpdate should have downloaded the particleIllusion.exe, but probably couldn’t install it. Find that file and manually copy it to your particleIllusion application folder, overwriting the existing exe. The downloaded file is probably in this folder:

    \My Documents\wondertouch\particleIllusion_3\Updates

If AutoUpdate didn’t download anything (for instance if your computer is not connected to the Internet):

    4) Email support at wondertouch dot com and we’ll give you the direct download link for the file that AutoUpdate will download. Then you’ll need to manually put it in the particleIllusion application folder.

  • Save in the exact same AVI format as the original movie maybe? Or save as a PNG image sequence (that will definitely work).
