Use “reset default settings” in the Start – Programs – particleIllusion menu.

If that doesn’t work, your “default” library is corrupted (but this is not likely since you reinstalled).

Unfortunately particleIllusion for Windows (both 3.0 and SE) does not
support DV AVI files directly at this time. That means that you need to
    either:

    1) Install a standalone DV codec such as the Mainconcept DV codec or the
Panasonic DV codec. Do a websearch for “Panasonic DV codec” and you’ll find
several sites that have that free codec with instructions for installing.

    2) Convert your DV AVIs into a non-DV format such as DivX or uncompressed
AVI. This conversion would have to be done with another application. I’ve
checked into Rad Video Tools (https://www.radgametools.com), and it’s
perfect. Converts between several different formats, but the important thing
here is it will convert your DV AVI to another AVI format. It’s free.

You need to give us much more information. What file format? What emitter did you use? What background color (in pIllusion)? Did you save with alpha? What interpretation settings in AE7 are you using for the footage? Etc.

In my opinion, NO LCD monitors are good at non-native resolution. Just too fuzzy. Of course, if you can’t see it at the native res, then a fuzzy lower res would be better.

Probably best if you go to a local computer shop and see one in action.

Every particle effect Combustion does, particleIllusion 3 can do, and much more.

If an exact emitter in Combustion isn’t available in pI3, it can be duplicated.

What would bringing it into pIllusion do if you’ve already created the animated light effect in Animation Shop?
