You’re not required to use pIRender, only when the output res you want is larger than what you can fit on your monitor.
You just need to make sure that your stage window is large enough at 100% zoom to fit the output size you want.

Try the “Create non-intense alpha” option. I think it will work much better.

Disintegrate it, then reverse the frames in your editor/compositor.

So you’re using particleIllusion 3.0, and there is no “PNG” option in the file types pulldown list when specifying the output filename? I don’t know how that would be possible.
Email wondertouch support, although I’ll say that you’re probably not using a registered (legal) version of the software. I apologize if I’m wrong, but we’ve never received a “I can’t save xxxxx image format” messages from a registered user.
But you’ve also missed the most important part of my previous message — the part that says “just save as TGA”.

You probably have “create non-intense alpha” (CNIA) turned on. Use “Alt-Shift-A” to toggle it. Easiest way to see this is to add an emitter (or two) that has some intense particles and some non-intense, view the alpha channel, then toggle CNIA.

You need to check the “Save Alpha” option in the output options dialog. This will only be enabled on Windows versions for TGA and PNG, and on Mac for the same and QuickTime movies if you have a compressor selected that supports alpha and set the number of colors to the highest.

Just render to TGA. There’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to render PNG though.

Did you purchase the CD version or download version? If CD, did you ever install from the CD or were you still using the temporary download version? I think the temporary download version (stops working after 50 days) doesn’t show any messages for some users when it expires.
If that’s not the issue, try “run with software rendering”.

Open pIllusionRender itself and set the AVI settings to the codec you want to use, then do a “junk” render to make sure pIRender is using the settings.
Then close pIRender and now when pIRBatch calls it, it will use the AVI settings you want.
Not sure about framerate, but it’s probably related to the codec. Or you’re not using the latest pIRender?
