particleIllusion context menus in Leopard are broken. Luckily you can just double-click the layer thumbnail (grey area in layers window) to load the bg image.

Or you can email wondertouch support and we’ll set you up with the 3.0.6 beta which has fixed this problem.

They ARE scaled (otherwise what’s the point of this feature). If you have an example that appears not to work correctly, please send it to me IMMEDIATELY, as we’re about to release the 3.0.3 update.

A good emitter to start with would be “Twist Tower 01” or “Twist Tower 02” in “emitters_05_04”

For DVD you want to use 720 x 480 (I believe) and set this in the Project Settings dialog.

When saving output, if you really want to save an AVI, use a lossless codec like Huffy UV or Lagarith for perfect (lossless) quality. Or save as a TGA or PNG image sequence.

I believe what you’re describing is compression problems in the output, not the output resolution.

It’s “Cosmic Collision 2” (or “Cosmic Collision”) in the emitters_03_08 library

If you’re a Mac user, the Mac version of particleView should be released shortly (before the end of the month).

December 3, 2007 at 5:56 pm in reply to: having problems with emitters not showing?

We’ve figured out this “emitters not doing anything” problem.

For some reason, some super emitters don’t create free emitters (and therefore don’t create any particles) at different framerates (I usually design emitters at 30 fps).

So if your project framerate is set to 24 fps (for example), those certain emitters won’t show. You have 2 solutions:

    1) Change your project framerate to something else that works (not a great solution)

    2) For emitters that don’t work at the framerate you want to use, just increase the topmost “life” value a little until you see particles. (Add the emitter to the stage, move ahead a few frames so there will be something to see, select the topmost “life” property in the hierarchy, then click and drag the data point in the graph window up a little until the particles show.)

    Hope this helps!

I would suggest rendering just the particles with alpha channel, and then composite the particles over the movie back in AE.
