This is the culmination of another joint engineering project between Apple and AJA. The Io HD therefore can support full 10-bit 4:2:2 full-raster HD over Firewire 800!

Hi,

Io HD also supports SD uncompressed, 8-bit and 10-bit, as well as DV25 and DV50 in Final Cut Studio. Basically, it’s ProRes 422 for HD, and then in SD it supports everything the original Io does!

Apple ProRes 422 is supported in the same way as other supported codecs in FCP, like DVCPRO-HD…KONA 3, etc. can write to directly to it, and and of course play it back.

Hi Dan,

To answer your question, the Io does occasionally need power cycling such as you are experiencing. A PCI card, like a KONA or your BM’s, basically get hardware “refreshed” and reset every time there is a computer restart, shutdown, etc. Because the Io is an external device, this does not occur during a computer restart.
