iO HD as standalone converter?
Posted by Chris Tomberlin on April 23, 2007 at 12:52 amAnybody know if the iO HD acts like the standard iO in terms of working like a converter box rather than only a capture box?
Thanks

Yes, the Io HD will work as a stand-alone 10-bit up/down/cross and A/D converter!

April 23, 2007 at 11:13 amCan I assume that just as in IO you need a computer to run the control panel?

April 23, 2007 at 1:16 pmyes, you need a computer – if you dont’want to use a computer, but want the same features, you can get the brand new AJA FS1, which is a true stand alone converter (anything to anything), with a front panel control (as well as web gui control from MAC or PC). $3995.

April 23, 2007 at 3:15 pmI understand the iO HD encodes HD to the ProRes codec to get HD over firewire. In the converter mode, will it output uncompressed HD? In other words, if I needed to go from HDMI in to uncompressed HD out, could I do that using the box in converter mode?
Thanks

April 23, 2007 at 6:36 pmYes, when acting as a stand-alone, you can take any input and send to any output, except the Firewire, which is only to send data to/from the Mac.

April 24, 2007 at 1:07 amHi Jeremy,
Yes, there is all new driver/software for the Io HD, built by AJA. It will have a Control Panel, much like the KONA one.
