To the best of our knowledge, the Sony PMW-F3, in 720p, does not output the type of ancillary data needed to extract 720p 23.98 from within the larger 720p 59.94 output; the Ki Pro and Ki Pro Mini VFR feature was primarily designed to support Panasonic 720p VFR-capable cameras.
To use the record triggering method for the Ki Pro Mini, you will need media in the camera and you will need to use record run timecode. The Arm Recording feature is covered on page 37 of the Ki Pro Mini manual.
The Ki Pro Mini manual can be found online at:

July 22, 2011 at 4:59 am in reply to: Audio sync problem digitizing from 3/4″ deckIf your other VTRs seem to be working fine with the AJA Io, then perhaps it’s just an issue with the 3/4″ VTR you are using.

July 21, 2011 at 4:57 am in reply to: AJA System Test is not working in OS X 10.7AJA System Test should work under Lion. However, it does not work on the boot drive where the OS resides due to changes in the OS. You should still be able to use the application to benchmark your internal and external media drives.
If you have additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact AJA Technical Support via phone or email.

Apple ProRes 422 QuickTimes are a great choice for Final Cut Pro X. The AJA Ki Pro and the Ki Pro Mini both work great for producing Apple ProRes 422 QuickTimes.

July 7, 2011 at 11:35 pm in reply to: Cannot copy file from Ki Pro HD to Mac Pro HD, says it’s corruptWith minor directory errors, simply connecting the Ki Pro Storage Module to a Mac OS X based computer typically resolves the issue. However, with more serious directory errors, the Ki Pro will actually report “WARNING Backup and Reformat”. In such cases, it is wise to copy the clips off of the media to your edit system and then, on the Ki Pro, perform a reformat of the media. As noted in the previous post, if the issue is a disk i/o error, such as a bad sector, AJA will gladly RMA the unit and replace it with a new Storage Module.
If there is an issue with an individual clip, AJA would typically recommend AeroQuartet to recover the file:
