You can also try using the particle effect called Effect > Simulation > CC Particle systems 2. If you set the velocity to 0 and move the emitter, it will create a trail based on the motion.

If those lines are 1 pixel thick, and you are working with fields, you will see a problem like those – so another solution is to thicken the offending lines (Stroke) a bit, in illustrator.

I’ve seen some expert photoshop artists who worked with multiple alphas – didnt get what they were doing, but they were doing it.
I would love to hear more about it.

Another way to deal is to make sure that you’re Red’s RGB values (And I assume they are 255, 0, 0) never go above 235. That is probably the ceiling for an acceptable red in the world of broadcast safe colors.

You should check to see if your program can output with an alpha channel. If it can, re-render, preferably as Straight, not premultiplied.

If that’s not an option, perhaps try rendering over a blue or green BG and then using Keylight to remove the BG. I’ve done it that way with smoke. Not because I had to, but because I wanted to see how good keylight really was.

My newest machine is a BOLData machine – they can customize more than Boxx, and they are cheaper. Not nearly as cheap as Dell or HP, but they are designed for our kind of work.
Not that Boxx is bad. I also have a Boxx and have been very happy with it.
