No offense taken, Kevin.
You’re not the first to tell me that there’s a better way, and I’d be a fool to say was the only way or even the best way. Since creating that tutorial I’ve found very similar (if not exactly the same) techniques in articles about broadcast design from people who are far more knowledgeable than I. Again, doesn’t make it perfect (or even right) but it is a fairly common practice, and more importantly, it does protect you from going over the levels, while keeping the contrast up.
But then again, it’s the tutorial I hear the most hubbub about too, so I definitely hear you. No question, there are better ways.
Kevin – have you thought about putting what you just wrote here into a tutorial (text or video). It would be a great asset to the community. Seriosuly – if you are interested I’ll help you get it together.
Daniel, with broadcast safe colors, there is always a loss involved in the process – you WILL lose color information – and if that thought paralyzes you and keeps you from doing anything, know that if you hand it off to an editor without doing anything for Broadcast safe, they’re likely to do far worse to your color, then you could ever do using anything talked about here.

If this were after effects, I’d say you had a memory leak. When programs lose funtionality over time, it’s often because it’s out of RAM. howvwe, I;ve never experienced anything like that in pIllusion – unless I was running another program that used Open GL (Competition for resources).
By the way, the specs you mentioned mean very little in pIllusion compared to a good video card – so keep that in mind. A good Open GL card is Key in pIllusion. Not that having a good machine overall is not good…
It’s possible that you are not the only one experiencing the problem, and that it has existed for a while. Personally, I haven’t seen it, but that doesn’t mean anything.
Maybe do a forum search here to see if any other person has ever posted about it. Like you said – been a while since an update. That means, that you have 3 years of posts from actual users of the exact same software you’re using. Perhaps there’s already a solution. Not every solution requires a software update.
Why not search and see if it has already been addressed?
If no one has addressed it, it may be an issue with your system. Or it could still be a bug that has existed all along. But if no one tells wondertouch about it, they have no way to know it needs fixing.
FYI – Wondertouch is working on a new update (as you can see in the most recent postings).

The way I understand it, you want a beam of light “shooting” out of the car lights – right? Like what you’d see from a flashlight in a dusty room?
Your question isn’t exactly clear, so I apologize if this doesn’t answer your question…
What I do in situation like this is create a white solid. Then I use the mask tools to draw the shape of the light beam (usually a cone of light). Then I set it’s transparency to maybe 70%. Then I set the layer’s transfer mode to Add.
Again, I may be missing the point of your question. Sorry if it;s not what you need.

Not always as simple as that – there is a preference in Illustrator that needs to be addressed. Watch this short tutorial – it will answer the question:

Don;t let the workflow scare you. It;s really not to big a deal. If you find lowering the levels complicated, watch this video – it will make everything crystal clear and easy (at least, that was my goal):

Hey there-
Can you make this file available so that the people at Adobe can look at it? I wouldn’t mind seeing it myself.
Best,
Aharon

July 23, 2007 at 5:03 pm in reply to: 3D Flat Line .. HOW?! (Also Particular Question)Mylenium has a tutorial on how to do the iPod effect here, but the one that I think you are referring to (showing how to do 3D ribbons in Maya and C4D) is here:
https://library.creativecow.net/articles/rabinowitz_aharon/3D_Ribbon.php
Also, Check out Zaxwerks new Plug-in, 3D warps:
https://zaxwerks.com/3dwarps/index.shtml
This can help you do it directly in AE, but I can’t say with how much ease.
