I believe that Zaxwerks 3D warps can also do this.

November 4, 2007 at 4:50 am in reply to: Autrotrace problems (Aharons super-tight junk mattes)you can try doing this in chunks. Break it up into smaller segments, and then take the all of the matte layers, and put them into their own comp (pre-compose them), then use that comp (which is then a single layer) as the matte layer. You can apply the matter choker to the single nested comp layer.

October 29, 2007 at 3:21 pm in reply to: Is there a way to add an effect to only part of a mask?If you have AE CS3, you can pre-comp the masked layer and then apply the bevel and emboss layer style to the nested comp. Just make sure that the shadow opacity is set to 0, and then play around with the size, soften and depth options. It might work.

Pre-compose them in a separate comp, then drop them into a new comp. Add the Puppet pins to the nested pre-comp.
In other words – right now, AE sees them as 2 layers. If you take the comp they are in, and drop it into a new comp, then you get the 2 layers combined into one (the nested comp).
Then whey you apply the puppet tool, the effect sees the pre-comp as only one layer – not two.

they physically rotate the green screen set he’s standing in (it’s on a rotating track). Or at least that’s how I’ve seen it done in the past. I can’t speak for this particular example.

That depends on how you do business. Do you charge your clients by the day or by the job?
Compression can take a lot of time, and you often have to do it more than once before you’re satisfied with the compression settings.
So ultimately, it could take a lot of time – depending on how much video you have. Which means some real downtime for whatever machine you are compressing with.
If you charge for just the job of doing it, then you need to make sure you are covering the costs for your time, and the time for the computer being unavailable for other projects.

good directing and flawless “blocking” (positioning the actors). Not an AE thing, or at least, not the hard stuff.
