I need some help please. I have a client wanting uncompressed avi files converted to flash. We purchased Sorenson Squeeze 4.5 to do this. The question I have is how is pricing normally done with this type of service? Is it by the minute or by the time? Does it depend on the quality they want? I want my pricing to be competitive. Any help will be apprecated.

That depends on how you do business. Do you charge your clients by the day or by the job?

Compression can take a lot of time, and you often have to do it more than once before you’re satisfied with the compression settings.

So ultimately, it could take a lot of time – depending on how much video you have. Which means some real downtime for whatever machine you are compressing with.

If you charge for just the job of doing it, then you need to make sure you are covering the costs for your time, and the time for the computer being unavailable for other projects.
