“1. How can I set gradients to text. For example I’d like to give my tekxt a liner tube like gradient.”
Not sure what this means, but you can select your text layer and apply the Gradient effect (Render > CC 4 color gradient).
Or you could create a gradient in photoshop, and it the text as an alpha matte over the gradient layer in AE. This will cut out the shape of the text on the gradient layer.
“2. Can I animate characters in the word independently? I have to animate a telephon number and sync it to speech.”
In short, it’s possible using a text animator – or you could try using one of the text animation presets that close to what you want and modify it as needed – but I wouldn’t do it that way. I usually just create seperate layers for each letter or number.
That said – here’s how you create your text animator:
– Create a Text Layer in AE
– Select your text layer and in the timeline twirl down the properties until you can see the property called Text – it should be on the first level of twirl-down.
– Next there should be an Arrow button to the right of that which says “Animate” – click on it, and choose scale from the choices (3rd choice down).
– A new Animator (animator 1, if it”s the only one in there) is created. For it’s scaleproperty (the animator’s not the layer’s), set it to how much you want the number to scale – for now lets say 150%. They all scale up.
– Twirl down Range selector, and set the End property to something low – for a phone number iwth 10 digits and 2 dashes, 6% should be about right. Only the first number should be big now.
– Set the offset to -6%, and set a keyframe.
– Then move down in the time line a second or 2 and set it to 100%
IF you RAM preview, it should animate over time, one number scaling up and then down at a time.
– You’ll probably need to set multiple keyframes there to match the audio perfectly.
– For bomus points, twirl down the Advanced twirldown, and play with the shape property, using something other than square to get a little more control over the text animation curve.

I do it with Time Remapping:
An amazing way to use time remapping is to create cartoon character lip-synching. To do this make a precomp of single frame images of a mouth with different phonemes. Sequence the layers so that they last one frame, and don

If your older card used a proprietary codec that only that card could read, then yes it could effect it.
Often, higher end video cards have hardware that allow it to compress video in a lossless format that only that card can read. The idea is, you take it into your NLE and output it in a format that others can see, but in the interim (while on your machine) it saves space and increases performance.
Check the company’s website to see if they have a software decoder for that codec.
This may, of course not be the problem. If you can see these files in premiere or a another program that canb convert video, then convert them into a lossless format like QT animation compression before going into AE.

You can try either:
-CC Repetile (Stylize)
-CC Tiler (Distort)These are the Cycore Effects that came with your Pro version of AE 6.5 (non-educational). It’s a seperate installer on the CD. Tiler is probably what you want.

That’s weird – interlaced footage in AE rarely looks right. Especially when not interpreted properly. Make sure that you are not getting scan lines showing blurred frames (as if you were seeing more than one frame at a time).
But hey – if it’s going to your TV correctly, then that’s what works. But make sure it plays well outside your Computer set up -put it on tape and see how it looks.
I hate interlacing…

interlacing is what you do for your final render – the one that will be seen on an NTSC monitor. You shouldn’t interlace until your final output. Test that rendered interlaced video on your monitor, but not through AE. – wait, Maybe I’m wrong – you could try and bring it into AE and interpret it as Lower Field First (unless you are interlacing as upper field first). Then put it on your monitor to see it – Your monitor might show it the way it should look. Give it a shot. If it looks good, then you know that interlacing is the way to go for your final render.
Don’t be surprised when you import your interlaced footage – Interlaced footage brought into AE usually looks bad in the comp window, even when interpreted correctly – it is literally half of every frame missing (every other row of pixels is hidden). It should, however, look OK on your monitor, provided you don’t take the interlaced footage and scale it or move it from it’s original (centered) position.
I don’t want to make you run in circles here. Interlacing issues are one of this things I try to avoid at all costs. Too many variables, and without seein it myself, these are just guesses.

Your right their not. I think we may have tried rendering and then playing with time and using frame blanding, but it dodn;t work.
Have you tried rendering with fields (interlacing). That often does the trick (while sometimes creating other problems).
Give that a shot.

Also, the fish in the BG seem to be poping into existance – well afew anyway. You may want to move the emitter over to the right to avoid seeing that happen.
