It sounds more like the program you are bringing it into (DPS Velocity) has the problem. Not AE. It should work exactly as you described.
Do the following to check:
Import your TGA sequence back into AE, and see if it has an al[ha channel.
If it does, the problem is with your DPS velocity. If not, you are doing something wrong in AE.
FYI – you are best to export with a Straight RGB, Not Premultiplied. Watch this video:

actually, last week at After Effects New York, Todd from GenArts showed a really nice Lens Blur Plug-in. I had never seen their tools, and was duly impressed:

I’m not sure what the effect was called but it had incredible control over the look of the blur. It should be a part of Box 3: Adjust, Blur+Sharpen, Composite & Distort.

You can copy and paste, but I have had some issues with that as well.
However, you can save your Premiere project file and open it in AE (File > Import > File… Choose Premiere project). I sometimes edit that way – laying out my video in premiere and then bringing it into AE for motion graphics stuff. Much easier to edit this way because I can watch the video in real-time with no ram preview.

regardless of any other issue – MP3’s do not work with AE – no matter what.
They seem to work, until you render.
So as Steve said – always convert your MP3’s into WAV’s or AIFF’s.

8.0.2 does not correct this. Adobe had the choice of finding a fix, or releasing a fix forcurrent issues that they had control over. They opted to get this release out, and are warning people off from QT 7.4 until it’s all sorted out.

Hey man, it’s only as old as adding the i to almost every product offered. If you’re going to do that, you’re asking for the rest of us to make fun.
Oh, and iThink it’s about time Apple sees what it’s like for the rest of us when it’s white tower attitude goes to far. Since they don’t seem to care an iSpec about non mac users, it’s good to see their mistakes effecting people inside the mac community.
up until now, when it’s an adobe/PC issue they say screw off.
So a little ribbing of Darth Jobs is probably helpful, in that Apple has no sense of humor about failure (at least when it’s their own) – a little anger and embarrassment in the mac community will get them to fix the issue ASAP.

ultimately – here is what happened. When the factory installed my firewire 800 card, the computer used firewire 800 drivers for all firewire ports/adapters.
Firewire 800 is not compatible with firewire cameras. The firewire 400 ports still worked because the 800 drivers are able to read hard drives – so I never noticed the problem – until I tried to hook in the camera.
So I changed the drivers for the on-board firewire port to the standard windows firewire drivers. That fixed it. I can now hook the camera up to my on-board firewire port.
The other computer, it turned out, was having all sorts of driver problems – just in need of a full reinstall. That fixed that problem.

Don’t get me wrong Jerzy, I’m sure yours works, but this is more of what I was expecting to see. I knew there was more detail – I wanted to see how much.

Did you paint it entirely by hand or convert colors in the image or what? What was your technique?
