July 6, 2006 at 8:50 pm in reply to: help asap!!! project due in less than two hours!Open AE and in your fresh, empty file try and import your project into AE – NOT OPEN!!!!
File > Import > File (AEP’s are a file that can be imported like movies or images) just import it into the project and there will be a folder with everything in tact.
This has saved my bottom many a time. Hopefully it will help you.

Thanks. But what are those primitives? Nurbs or Polygons? Or are they nothing (Which I don’t understand)?
Thanks again!

you may want to update illustrator and bridge with the lastest updates – you can do this through the Adobe Help files program.
Bridge has some stability issues which this update fixes. maybe that will help?

Pretty good – reminds me of Sabrina the Teenaged which (a show that has a lot of particle effects in it)
Talking on a non-technical and more artistic level… since her hand motion drives the intitial effect, it should also end it. Right now, the particles initially come out of her finger, but when she reappears, they don’t come back into her finger – so the particles seem to go nowhere. However if she seemed to catch the particles with her finger at the end, I think would look better.

Some emitters have names like Into Smoke, Into Dust, Into fog, Into Snow…etc.
It means camera perspective in which the particles are coming directly at the camera. So you are going Into them.

June 29, 2006 at 10:15 pm in reply to: Aharon Rabinowitz’s Lip-Sync Tutorial with ExpressionsValues like that would not work – becasue volume doesn’t indicate phoneme – just loudness.
There are plenty of programs out there that help your 3D characters talk by your setting up (modeling) phonemes, entering text and audio, and letting the program make sense of it all.
There is, to my knowledge, nothing like that for AE, but i don’t see why it’s not possible – but it would be more than a 5-line script.
It would have to be able to read text and listen to the audio semi intelegently to really be effective.

June 29, 2006 at 10:11 pm in reply to: Aharons work flow tutorial – overwrite pieces of the same file?I’ve had plenty of projects where we had bad tech issues (crashes)or tight deadlines (network rendering) and rendering a sequence and then re-outputting to MOV was the only safe choice. But converting a large image sequence to MOV can take a long time. I used to be all image sequence crazy, but these days, unless I need to go to image sequence, or I’m under the gun, or having technical issues with a render, I tend to go the route of quicktime.

June 29, 2006 at 9:24 pm in reply to: Aharons work flow tutorial – overwrite pieces of the same file? The only downside of that is if you must deliver a quicktime. Dealing with image sequences slows things down for NLE’s, and AE, so often people prefer QT video. But if you aren’t under a constraint (like your client ore editor is OK with image sequences) then that’s an awesome way to do it.
Thanks for that, Barend.
