I took a look at Aharon Rabinowitz’s Lip-Sync Tutorial and it is very good. A lot better than the “Connect to Audio Waveform” expression I have been using for the last few years to make a mouth move up and down.

Is there anyone out there that would know how to use an expression to make Aharon’s tutorial automated with expressions?

For instance – take the values of the audio waveform keyframes and assign them to each mouth expression. So when the audio changes volume the mouth changes from one picture to another.

I think his tutorial takes you about 75% of the way there. I just don’t have the scripting experience to make what I want happen.

Values like that would not work – becasue volume doesn’t indicate phoneme – just loudness.

There are plenty of programs out there that help your 3D characters talk by your setting up (modeling) phonemes, entering text and audio, and letting the program make sense of it all.

There is, to my knowledge, nothing like that for AE, but i don’t see why it’s not possible – but it would be more than a 5-line script.

It would have to be able to read text and listen to the audio semi intelegently to really be effective.
