    Yeah, I so really wanted the trasnparency layer to work like the Avid’s universal effect appication. Yeah, maybe in the next release:)

    I so loooooooove the new subclips of PP2.0. Finally I can use it properly for TVC offlines. It was a nightmare to go through hours of footage and not have a way to group them properly.

    Hi Claus-Peter,
    Not composite, but both component and SD-SDI. I wonder if it has something to do with my video card(ATI), although that is quite far fetched. Any other ideas?

    I’m using PrePro for digitizing.

    October 17, 2005 at 6:55 pm in reply to: Raid question (for Bill Buchanan)

    As i mentioned in one of my earlier posts, I got my hands on an HDPro 4:4:4. I have a 5way SATA stripe set to RAID 0 on my adaptec and it wasnt enough to sustain 10bit uncompressed HD. 8bit did fine, but 10bit kept on dropping frames. Question though is has anyone been able to use 10bit HD using a RAID 5? How many drives would I need? Any also, which Raid card has more than 8 SATA nodes? I’d like to take Bill’s advice on running RAID5 on my ucompressed SD, but when I move to HD, i’m not sure how to get HD usable on a RAID5 setup.

    Exactly what i needed Matt, thanks for the tip. I should’ve seen that when I was fiddling around with the control panel. I just didnt think of chekcing out that tab.
    So just to be clear, to view HP 24p, I need the HDLink connected to an Apple Cinema or Dell HD LCD, but to see a 23.967p project, then I could just use the downconversion from the SD/SDi Output from the HDPro. Is there really a big difference when I use a 24p project and a 23.967p project? I’m thinking I could just use the 23.967p project for footage shot on the HDCAM 24p. Dont have a deck here with me so I can’t do an actual digitizing test. All I have are targa sequences exported from a 24p HD timeline and those are the ones I drop in the 23.967 timeline. Seems to play out fine after a render.

    Dont know if theres a faster or better way to edit in PrePro and Panasonic 24p, but here’s what I did;
    – footage shot on ADVX100A 24p
    – digitized using Blackmagic DV 4×3 settings
    – edited even if there was fielding/strobing on the broadcast monitor
    – after approved edit, i opened a Panasonic 24p project
    – i imported the original DV project I was using for editng into the Panasonic 24p project
    – i opened my timeline and exported the sequence/media clips to decklink 8bit 4:2:2 24fps avi
    – i opened thos AVIs in an 8bit 4:2:2 24fps project. Played them in realtime without the strobing and jittering.

    Does anyone have a better workflow than this? Any input would be appreciated.
    Good thing I was only doing a 30sec spot, I cant imagine the exporting I would have to do if i was editing long for projects.
