  • Thank you for the reply Walter. You are correct, IMX30 is an ideal delivery format.

Personally, do you think IMX30 is a “good enough” codec to work with for lossy recompression? If not, what would be your bare minimum?

  • We’ve been editing on r3d files since Premiere Pro v 6 and have had very little issues. The new Red Epic files though are quite heavy and have required us to find a workaround, such as exporting proxies. It is a pain, but until we upgrade our current workstations, this is our best solution.

  • Hi Peter,

Following the Windows Config guide to a tee, we seem to be running into a roadblock with regards to the NVidia Drivers. Using the 280.26 CUDA drivers from the Nvidia Support site, it seems to not want to install on both Nvidia cards installed in the system. We have a Quadro 3800 (for GUI), and a Quadro 5800 (GPU) installed and despite installing the correct drivers, the Quadro 5800 always ends up with an error(exclamation point) in the Device Manager. Is this normal? Will the Resolve software recognize the Quadro 5800 despite the Device Manager error?

    Hi Kristian,

So does this mean I cannot properly playback any 4k RED R3D file via the Blackmagic presets? The settings I want to use BMD 10bit 29.97fps. Right now, I have a 4k R3D file in a timeline with this preset and it wont play back smoothly.
    Thanks.

This is great news Baz. I’ll try the CS3 beta on our BMD stations on Monday and see if I come up with the same results.

    Hi Baz,

Why not try installing bootcamp on your Macpro/Decklink Station and install WIndows XP? Wouldn’t it be cool to be able to boot up to either PremiereProCS3/Windows or MacOS/FCP on one machine? hehe

Any real life users/testers care to share some experiences? This would be great, being able to harness the diff advantages of PrePro and FCP on one machine. 🙂

Thats very interesting. Any success stories from the people who have tried it out?:)

  • We run three workstations with an Avid/Decklink combo. Haven’t run into problems yet. We have 1 DecklinkProHd/AvidXpressProHD/Mojo combo, and 2 Decklink Extreme/AvidXpressProHD/Mojo combos. We use the Avid for offline projects and Decklink/PremierePro for online projects. Works great! And it saves a lot of space on the racks in the Engineering room, hehe.
