Right, and the correct mode is “Offset Repeat”. Repeat will just loop the same animation, but offset repeat will loop the animation starting from the end point instead of the start point.

  • I can’t recreate the problem here, using R15. What version of Cinema are you using?

I suggest that, instead of using the current state command, you try the Tools>Make polygon copy command in the Sculpting layers dialogue.

Is your frame rate in project settings also 30fps?

I opened the file that Brian saved in Rhino 4 format and it is indeed supremely screwed up. I don’t know that’s how it is in Rhino 5 or if that’s an artifact of the conversion. In R4 none of the surfaces are welded, and they all seem to be doubled. Even if the surfaces weren’t doubled up I think it would be hard to join them together.

If you’re not careful in Rhino it’s very easy to create reasonable-looking objects that are technically unsound and in those cases it’s usually impossible to join the surfaces into water-tight objects. When that happens it can be a challenge converting the NURBS to polygons. I think that’s what happened here.

Very odd if they were using these models to create prototypes. I don’t know how they were able to do it.

    Sorry for the non help.

  • That’s a tough one as snow is sort of like particles and sort of like a liquid. It could probably be done using Thinking Particles, but if it was me I would go the easier route and use the X-Particles plugin.

    I tried a quick test here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGzhOcOlj14&feature=youtu.be

Needs a lot of work, obviously, but I think it could be made to look good and render relatively quickly. The above render took about 40 minutes on one machine.

Ah crap, that’s a Rhino 5 file and I have Rhino 4. It won’t open.

    Hey Jeff,

Dowloading now. I’ll let you know what I find as soon as I find something. 🙂

Or it could be a straight geometry deformed by a bend, wrap, or spline wrap deformer.

I don’t think it’s possible to set (or get) a spline point’s rotation via Xpresso. In this case I think you’ll have to create one or two more points inside the plug and tie them to the position of the plug (or nulls that are children of the plug) in order to make the wire bend correctly.

What sampling method did you finally choose? You have both camera and object animation in the scene? For your GI area lights (luminous polygons), do you have a material on them with the “GI Area Light” option checked in the illumination tab?

Off the bat I would use Cinema lights in the tube fixtures instead of luminous polygons.
