One way to do that is to create two smalls, with one being slighter bigger than the other. Increase their segments a fair amount before you make them editable because you lose the “render perfect” function of the primitive sphere.
Select all the polygons of the inner sphere and reverse the normals. Then multiselect both objects in the Object Manager and right click. Choose “connect objects and delete” to get a single object.
Now you should get the proper refraction. Before you essentially created a crystal ball so the upside view of the sky was physically accurate.

February 9, 2016 at 11:19 pm in reply to: luminance of a material does not light close pyrocluster cloudsThe only way I know of is to animate a light or lights to get the effect. Shouldn’t be that difficult. Use colored lights with Inverse Square falloff.

I’d play around with the hair mass, rest hold, and drag parameters.

February 8, 2016 at 9:37 pm in reply to: How do I make a cracked skull animation inside Cinema 4D?Ah, you need to check the video tutorials that come with the plugin. If your object has a normals tag, delete it first off. Then there’s a few things you need to do:
1. Go ahead and break the object and then go to the Nitroblast Object (below Main Pieces) and remove your original object from the Nitroblast heirarchy. You can now delete the Nitroblast object heirarchy;
2. With your skull object selected, open the Nitroblast plugin again (if you closed it before) and go to the Styles tab. Click the “Bake Normals” button;
3. No go back to the main tab and rebreak your object. With the parent Nitroblast object selected, go to the transparency tab in properties and make sure the “Enable” box is checked.
That should get it looking right.

The way I do it is to use a fracturing plugin to break up an object or objects and then use dynamics to let the object(s) fall into a pile. The plugin I use is called NitroBlast but there are a number of options and some of them are free (Thrausi for example: https://nitro4d.com/blog/freebie/thrausi/ ).

February 8, 2016 at 4:02 pm in reply to: How do I make an equation define an object’s movement through x and y axis?Does it work with the default Formula Effector equation? If so, it must be something to do with your equation or syntax.
