    Should also mention that there’s a fluid engine in Samir’s DPIT plugin for Cinema. I’ve never used it so I don’t know if it would be suitable for this project.

    Seems to me if you just need to show the bubble moving it would be a helluva lot easier just to model a bubble object and animate it moving.

    You can do it by putting a movie file (or bitmap sequence) in a material’s transparency channel and putting the material on a spot light. You’ll have to adjust the material’s UV projection with the texture axis tool to get the right look.

    [Michael Goldberg] “Hey,
    I tried joints, and they are starting to work well. Unfortunately it looks really good at the top of the close, but once the geometry starts folding on top of itself, it gets out of control. I’m gonna keep working on it.
    Mike”

    Yep, I’m sure it’s tricky. I suspect you’ll want to combine the joints with at least one or two morphs to get it right.

    Cinema doesn’t support the .pdf format — you’ll have to convert it to something else.

    You can’t isolate shading to a selection with the style tag. I would recommend turning off shading in the sketch effect and using regular materials/selections with the appropriate sketch shaders for the color.

    Tough one. If you have the cloth module you could try applying cloth to the fabric while making the ribs colliders, but I doubt it would give a great result due to self-collision problems at the top of the umbrella. You could also try rigging it with bones or joints, assuming that model has a reasonable topology.

    I can’t think of an automatic way to do this, which isn’t to say it can’t be done. 🙂 Unfortunately the time offset feature in the effectors doesn’t influence material animation.

    Here’s what I would do:

    * create a material with multi-shader in the luminance channel;

    * add a bunch of layers to the multi-shader and load the video into each one;

    * go into the animation properties of each layer and manually change the start time of the clip;

    * assign a random effector to the cloner set to randomize color only.

    That will randomly assign the multishader layers you set up to the clones, so you will have as many different start times as you have layers in your multishader.

    If you texture the buildings in SU and export as fbx, the textures should come into Cinema. Otherwise, short of texturing each building separately, you could try using a noise shader with cell noise in the color or luminance channel to simulate windows. If you have the Sketch & Toon module you can create the cartoon-like effect. Or you could add floor and sky objects and use global illumination to create a clay-type render.
